January was a terrific month for Hogar de Esperanza. We had 17 teenagers visit from the United States. Their high school, Pembroke Day School in Kansas City, allowed them to miss a few days of school to do social projects in Salaverry and to help paint the orphanage. The kids really responded to the challenge and did a wonderful job. When the teenagers got back to Kansas City, they had to write a report on their trip, and some wrote it was a life changing experience.

Also in January and February, we added 2 1/2 acres of walled space for an orchard and play area. The orchard will be planted with fruit trees and various flowers. The orchard will help us in our food bill and give a nice area for the children to play.

We are in the process of getting the little orphan Jesus adopted into a Peruvian family. Also, we are working with an American family who are interested in adopting an 8 year old. Pray with us that more Christian families will want to adopt our kids. If the funds come in, we will start a juvenile home for kids 11-16 years old. The home will be built adjacent to the orchard. There is a great need in Trujillo for a home for street kids of this age group.

Also, pray the the Lord will impress young men who would be willing to donate 2 years of their lives to rescue these children.
