January was the busiest month for the orphanage in history. We had 27 visitors to the orphanage, and put on an eye clinic and a dental clinic for the poor in Trujillo, Peru. The eye clinic saw more than 1000 people and identified over 150 cataract patients. The dental clinic treated hundreds of people with basic dental care. Both programs were highly successful and added to the quality of life for a large number of the poor.

January brought turnover to Hogar de Esperanza. It was a real sad day to see Sandra and her brother Josue leave with their mother. In Peru, a parent can get their child back from the orphanage if they can prove to the court that they are suitable parents. That same day three girls came in from Lima. They were abused by their father and mother. The Peruvian government wanted to place them in a secure orphanage, so their father could not take them. When the kids were placed in a Peruvian orphanage in Lima their father would steal them out of the home and make them work on the street. The girls are doing well, and they are now having good medical treatment.

We received a tremendous gift from www.lmfkc.org, Lighthouse Ministry Fellowship in Belton Missouri with eight brand new laptop computers for our school. Also, the church sent 5000 dollars to get the orphanage school started. Lighthouse Ministry Fellowship is a relatively small church, but with a Giant heart for street children. This month we are developing a curriculum and infrastructure for the school. To help get the school going a couple from the U.S. is spending 90 days here in the albergue.

We received a number of gifts for each child as well from a Canadian couple. It is just overwhelming the amount of love that was given to our children.

My son-in-law, Ben, and his wife, Mindy, came to the orphanage to produce a DVD of the operation of the Home and the Ranch. The DVD will be done in about tow months. If anyone would like a copy, please contact me by email at mrdavidmiller@hotmail.com. The DVD will be sent to prospective adoption parents, volunteers and supporters of the ministry.

God has given us a great start for 2005, and I am excited about what the year will bring.
