In the middle of May we were blessed to have a group of medical students from Creighton University who stayed for a week. While the kids were at the school during the day, the group spent their time painting the Amigos house. The rooms are now bright and beautiful for Tia Hilda and the boys. In the afternoons they taught workshops for our kids. These workshops included information about hygiene, maintaining a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, as well as important facts and advice for the changes that come along with adolescence. They put a special focus on the importance and blessings of sexual purity in their workshops with our adolescents. At the end of the week the group and adolescents had a celebration dinner together where the youth were given the opportunity to sign a purity pledge, promising to abstain from sexual impurity until marriage. We rejoice with 6 who chose to sign this pledge and dedicate this aspect of their life to God. |
