Sophia Finds Hope

Sofia is 8 years-old. She spent many of those 8 years living in a severely abusive situation with extended members of her family. Before entering Hogar de Esperanza, she found herself living on the streets of a small mountain village an hour outside of Trujillo with her mother, who is mentally ill, and her brother and sister. Sofia had never been to school and could not even hold a pencil. Now Sofia attends our on-campus school, Escuela de Miller, where she has learned how to read and write. She has overcome her frustrations with the many things she was not able to do and is no longer withdrawn. Sofia has become more social, smiles constantly, and is beginning to show pride in her schoolwork and the things that she sees she can accomplish. Sofia has found hope at Hogar de Esperanza.

YOU can help us reach our goal!

200/50 CampaignThe generous commitment of each person means that orphaned children, like Italo, will have a place food to eat and a place to call home. Italo spent the first few years of his life living in a hole that his birth mother dug in the ground while she worked as a prostitute. Italo came to us malnourished, unable to see and unable to speak. The ministry of Hogar de Esperanza provided Italo with help for his vision, speech therapy and education and, more importantly, has given him love. Italo is now 11 years old and has hope for his future. If only 200 people would commit to give just $50 a month, the ministry of Hogar de Esperanza will be able to continue reaching children like Italo! During this tough economic time, there are more children in need than ever! Giving to our ministry through Corazon de Esperanza is simple. All donations are tax-deductible and are used to provide the basic needs of food, housing, education and a loving staff for our children. Please pray about your opportunity to change children’s lives through the power of monthly giving! Thank you for partnering with us. Happy Birthday, Hogar de Esperanza!

In October 2001, Dave and Vickie Miller began the beautiful ministry of Hogar de Esperanza and its work to change the lives of abandoned children. Within a few months, the first few children found shelter and peace within the walls of this orphanage. Today, 48 children call Hogar de Esperanza their home and are learning about the love of God, first hand. The staff, children and volunteers joined together with friends, pastors and government officials to celebrate their 9th birthday. The celebration began with a time of worship, stories about the beginnings of the ministry, plays performed by the children, prayer, a meal and cake! Thank you for celebrating with us! Please continue to keep the orphanage in your prayers as we continue to care for the precious children of Peru!

Que Dios les bendiga,
