We ended our summer programs in February. The kids had opportunities in 14 areas to learn and develop so many new skills. Many of the kids have developed a passion for reading and gardening, along with learning how to do push-ups, make jewelry, crochet and learning English. It was a wonderful and full summer including great weather and Friday afternoon field trips to the beach.

This week is back to school. The directors, social worker, madre tutoras and volunteers spent quite a bit of time organizing new uniforms and school supplies for 39 kids and were blessed to receive generous donations from volunteers, visitors and local Peruvians. We are excited to announce that this year our primary grade children are attending a new christian, private school that is closer to the albergue – less than 5 miles away in Salaverry and our 4 high schoolers have the honor of attending Escuela Elliott, which was founded by missionary Bert Elliott. On campus in Escuela de Miller, Miss Alcira continues to teach 9 of our children who have a variety of learning disabilities and our on campus kinder program has 7 children learning their colors, shapes and simple English with one of our long-term volunteers, Amy.

Next month will be full of volunteers, groups and activities. If you are able, come and visit the albergue this year and be a part of the wonderful things happening in Peru. The children will steal your heart!

Chau,
